This website is designed to keep the Appalachian State University community abreast of the Reaffirmation of Accreditation process for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Appalachian State University was first awarded accreditation by SACSCOC in 1942.
Reaffirmation of Accreditation
Our most recent reaffirmation of accreditation was in December 2013. Our Five-Year Interim Report will be due April 2019, and our next Compliance Certification is scheduled for September 2023.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges is a regional accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. SACS Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) manages the accreditation of higher education institutions in 11 southern states and Latin America which award associate, baccalaureate, master's or doctoral degrees.
